KnowLo

Privacy policy

Last updated 28 October 2026

The short version

  • KnowLo saves your study progress so you can pick up where you left off. That's all it collects.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and your data is never sold.
  • You can delete everything at any time: Menu → Delete my data.

Who is responsible

KnowLo is run by Isak Gudbjornsson, an individual based in Iceland. I am the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].

The website (knowloapp.com)

The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Its fonts are stored on the site itself. The only outside code is a small script from Cloudflare, served from knowloapp.com, that hides the contact email address from spam bots.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your visit. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): keeping the site working and secure. Cloudflare keeps these logs for a short time under its own policies.

The app

The KnowLo app currently runs on claude.ai, a platform run by Anthropic PBC, and you sign in with a Claude account. Anthropic's own terms and privacy policy cover that account. KnowLo does not receive your name or email address; it sees only an anonymous account ID.

KnowLo stores:

This is kept in your browser's storage on your device and in KnowLo's storage on Anthropic's platform, linked to your anonymous account ID, so your progress follows you between devices. The legal basis is contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)): it's needed to give you the study service you asked for.

The AI patient (free talk)

In free-talk patient cases, the messages you type are sent to Claude, an AI model by Anthropic, which replies as the patient and marks your interview. KnowLo saves only your score, not the conversation. Anthropic processes these messages under its own terms. Please don't type real patients' details or other personal information.

When you email KnowLo

If you email [email protected], your message, email address and anything you include are stored in KnowLo's mailbox, which is run by Google Workspace. They are used only to answer you and are deleted when they're no longer needed, at the latest two years after the conversation ends. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): replying to you.

These providers may process data outside the EEA, including in the United States. Such transfers rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long data is kept

Your progress is kept until you delete it. Deleting it in the app removes it from your device and from KnowLo's storage straight away. If you email a request instead, it is handled within one month.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and Iceland's Act on Data Protection (no. 90/2018), you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and to restrict or object to how it's used. The quickest way to delete is Menu → Delete my data in the app. For anything else, email [email protected].

You can also complain to Persónuvernd, the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (personuvernd.is).

Children

KnowLo is for people aged 13 and over, which is the age of digital consent in Iceland. The app asks you to confirm your age before you start. If you believe a child under 13 has used KnowLo, email [email protected] and their data will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Important changes are also announced in the app.
